- History

March 1989    Established the department and 40 new students entered the department
October 1989  Held the First Moscow Day (Russian Culture & Art Festival)
March 1990    Professor Lee, Kang Eun joined the department
October 1990    Professor Lee, Dae Woo joined the department
March 1992    Professor Lee Kee Woong and Kim, Gyu Jong joined the department
February 1993  Produced the first graduates
March 1996    Switched the department system to the faculty system
March 1997    Established the master's course for graduate school
March 1999    Switched the faculty system back to the department system
Started student exchange with Kuban University
March 2001    Established the doctor's course for graduate school
Started student exchange with Herzen Pedagogical University
February 2005  Professor Kim, Jung Il joined the department
September 2009 Appointed Professor Yoon Young-Sun
October  2009 Celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the Department
June 2012    Published the first department newsletter
March 2019    Professor Seo, Kwang Jin joined the department
 

- Mission

Recognize the significance of Russia and Eurasia in the new era of Northeast Asia that will commence after the unification of Korea and contribute to the development of all fields including sociology, politics, economics and culture in our country by cultivating professional human resources specialized in the culture and language of the relevant regions.
 

- Ideals

1.  Develop high proficiency in the languages of the relevant regions
2.  Gain expert knowledge regarding the culture of the relevant regions and improve creative application capability based on such knowledge
3.  Learn subjective problem and conflict solving capabilities for various pending problems in the globalization era
4.  Improve communication capabilities and insights through the cultivation of humanistic knowledge
